Ever since smartphone being introduced, battery life has always being an issue. It either doesn't last long, required to carry a power bank or find a wall socket to feed the phone.

Lenove has addressed this problem with the launch of the Lenovo VIBE P1 and P1m (lite version of P1).

First thing first. Here's what you will get when you unboxed the Lenovo P1.

  • Lenovo VIBE P1
  • USB Wall Fast Charger
  • microUSB Cable
  • Documents
  • microUSB On-The-Go
  • Back Clear Case
  • Screen Protector Film
Let's move on to the hardware specification. It powered with Qualcomm Snapdragon 615, 64-bit octa-core 1.5GHz processor, mated with 2GB of RAM. 32GB of internal storage and a dedicated microSD card slot that support up to 128GB.

It sports a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS display that pumped up to 401ppi. The display get protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It supported Dual 4G SIM (nano SIM), Dual Standby.

Camera department ain't too bad for a mid-range smartphone, it feature a 13 megapixel fast-focus PDAF technology and dual-color LED flash to give more natural and less harsh flash light. As for selfie, it comes with a 5 megapixel front-facing camera.

It doesn't stop here! VIBE P1 has a fingerprint sensor on-top of the physical home button like Samsung Galaxy S6/S6 edge. The biggest advantages of Samsung's fingerprint sensor is that P1 doesn't required to press the button to perform the fingerprint scanning. I just lightly touch and it will recognized, just like those smartphone with rear fingerprint sensor.

Before I forget, the VIBE P1 has a dedicated audio chip that able to boosts audio output making it loud enough for group conference call.

The main highlight of this smartphone is the battery, the P1 packed with a massive 5,000mAh battery that support 24W quick charging and Lenovo claimed it get up to 30 days of standby time and 45 hours of talk time in a single charge.

Since it has such humongous battery, VIBE P1 support reverse charging by connecting the bundled microUSB OTG to charge others devices.

Straight out of box, the Lenovo VIBE P1 runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop on top of Lenovo's latest VIBE UI. If you a fans of stock Android, good news! Lenovo VIBE P1 allows you to switch the launcher between Android and VIBE UI in the homescreen settings.

Performance wise, it wasn't that bad although it has only 2GB of RAM and powered with mid range snapdragon 615. It able to scored 38,000 points on AnTuTu benchmark.

This is the clear protective case that bundled along with P1. This case can show the beauty of the metal body design P1 has.

The 24W quick charger to better to be know Rocket Charge support; 5.2V / 2A or 7V / 2A and 9V / 2A or 12V / 2A. The Rocket Charge able to give you 3 hours of 5 minutes charge.

The microUSB that allows you to perform reverse charging, to charge others USB device and also connect to USB storage and USB peripherals like keyboard and mouse for more productivity tasks.

The display is bright, sharp and has quite good viewing angles thanks to the IPS display technology.

The volume rocker and power button located on the right side

Top you will find 3.5mm audio jack and second microphone for noise cancellation and bigger video recording. Then on the top right corner of the screen you will see a 5 megapixel front facing camera.

Bottom  you will find the standard microUSB port and two speaker grills. Only the right speaker grill has audio output and the left side is microphone. There are two capacitive buttons (menu and back) and a physical home button built-in fingerprint sensor beneath the button.

On the rear you will find 13 megapixel camera and a dual-tone LED flash. There's Near-Field Communication (NFC) reader on the back as well.

So where do we slot in the SIM and memory card? The top of the VIBE P1 is actually a plastic cover that you can remove and the SIM slot and microSD card slot being hide. It supported dual nano SIM and also 1x microSD card that can go up to 128GB.

On the left hand side of VIBE P1 is a dedicated power saving switch. Enabling the power saving is much easier and faster.
