OPPO Malaysia has just announced its latest smartphone, OPPO R9s and it's will be officially available from 14th January 2017 onwards. I was lucky enough to receive a review unit before it officially goes on sales.

Here's a quick unboxing video and my first impressions of the new OPPO R9s.

What's included in the box?

• OPPO R9s
• VOOC Flash Charger
• VOOC Certified microUSB Cable
• User Guide
• Premium Transparent TPU Back Case
• SIM/microSD card Ejector Tool
• Earbud Headset

A quick glance, the OPPO R9s does resembling to the OPPO F1 Plus which also sports a 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED display. The R9s has redesigned the antenna line to 6 fine lines (3 top and 3 below) thus the antenna line less visible.

Under the hood, R9s is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 625, an octa-core 2.0GHz processor and Adreno 506 GPU. It mated with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The storage can be further expands via hybrid microSD card slot (uses SIM 2)

There is a new camera sensor uses on the R9s, a 16 megapixel SONY IMX398 sensor that feature dual PDAF and f/1.7 aperture lens. The selfie camera inherited the same Selfie Expert's F1s camera sensor, a 16 megapixel f/2.0 aperture lens.

OPPO R9s wrapped in unibody metal body along with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on the front. It has a home button (non-clickable) that doubles up as a fingerprint sensor. Next to the home button are the capacitive navigation buttons that has backlit. The fingerprint sensor is ultra fast and probably the fastest I tested so far - check out the demo in the unboxing video above.

The phone is very thin (6.6mm) and light (145g) still manage to pack a 3,010 mAh battery and preserve the 3.5mm audio jack.

OPPO R9s get to enjoy OPPO's propriety fast charge technology, VOOC Flash Charge and the fast charger is included.

A premium transparent TPU protective case is included in the box and a film screen protector was applied on the device out-of-box. So you don't have to spend extra money to buy protective case and screen protector.

Not forgotten, an earbud headset is bundled along with the device.

Overall the OPPO R9s gave a very good impression in term of built and hardware by it spec sheet. Will provide a comprehensive review of this device soon to conclude whether this is a worthy device.
