OnePlus 5 is Now Official! It's iPhone-ish Android Flagship Smartphone

A quick glance you will tells that the new OnePlus 5 aesthetically it resemble the iPhone 7 Plus. There was a time where people always wanted to have an iPhone that run on Android and now we have the OnePlus 5.

Today the OnePlus has officially announced their 5th flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 5.  As we all expected, the device will be packed with monster hardware and great price tag. The OnePlus 5 is powered by Qualcomm's latest flagship Snapdragon 835 CPU mated with Adreno 540 GPU. It also comes with 6GB or 8GB of RAM and storage of 64GB and 128GB respectively.

It sports a 5.5-inch Optic AMOLED Full HD display and to keep the lights on is a 3,300 mAh battery that support fast charging (Dash Charge).

There are nothing much new features being introduced on this device and even no water/dust resistant rating. The only new thing about their new flagship is the dual camera setup, a 16 megapixel f/1.7 primary camera paired with a 20 megapixel f/2.6 telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom on the rear. The front camera is a 16 megapixel f/2.0 wide angle camera. It also features the latest Bluetooth 5.0.

There are no storage expansion option despite it supported dual SIM. The OnePlus 5 will be running on Android 7.1.1 with minor tweak that almost stock android.

The OnePlus  priced in the US for the variant with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage is US$ 479 (roughly RM 2,055) where the 8GB RAM with 128GB variant is US$ 539 (approx. RM 2,312). It currently available for pre-order in the US and some European regions. No words that it will be available in Malaysia anytime soon.
