The fiasco of Samsung Galaxy Note7 caught on fire followed suit by Galaxy Note9? Yesterday what could be the first report of a Galaxy Note9 caught on fire. The unfortunate user, Diane Chung launched a legal claim against the giant South Korean company, Samsung.

According to Diane, the incident happens after midnight 3rd September when she was in the elevator of Bayside building and noticed her brand new phone "became extremely hot". She then placed in her handbag and suddenly heard whistling and screeching sound, and she noticed thick smoke pouring out from her handbag. She even burnt her fingers when she tried to empty her handbag

The Galaxy Note9 didn't stop burning till someone grabbed it with a cloth and plunked it into a bucket of water, claimed by Diane in the Queen Supreme Court lawsuit.

These were highlighted during the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Note9 unpacked.

“The battery in the Galaxy Note 9 is safer than ever. Users do not have to worry about the batteries anymore,” said CEO Koh Dong-jin, according to reports.

Another Samsung exec, Kate Beaumont, director of product planning, said the company now had a multi-step “battery safety check” in place and the Note 9s would “absolutely not” catch fire.

According to Samsung spokesman, this could be an isolated case and they have not received any reports of similar incidents involving a Galaxy Note9 device and they are investigating the matter.
